According to Ms Irvine-Smith, the street is named for an assistant to Captain William Mein Smith, the Chief Surveyor for the Wellington Company. Park arrived on the Cuba with Smith in January, 1840. We know Captain Smith’s first name but apparently not Mr Park’s.
